Film, TV and Radio
Loch Katrine is certainly no stranger to the entertainment media, and this beautiful part of the country has recently been in the spotlight again.
The Loch Katrine Experience and our own Steamship Sir Walter Scott have been featuring on Central FM radio in August. Steve and the team from the station stopped by Trossachs Pier during their Central FM On Tour week and the station has been giving away family passes as prizes.
You can catch up with Steve’s antics on the Katrine Wheelz Penny Farthing during their visit on the Central FM Facebook page.
Chinese rock star Xu Wei has been on board the steamship Sir Walter Scott while filming a documentary about music and travel, “On the Road for Music”.
Xu Wei is one of the best known rock musicians in China, receiving accolades for his unique style.
The Loch Katrine visit was part of a British tour, during which he’s visited many famous attractions.
The history and stunning scenery of The Trossachs are what draws people and productions to the area. Previous visitors from TV and music include Griff Rhys Jones, filming for a documentary on cattle drovers, and the world renowned Susan Boyle, filming scenes for the music video to ‘A Perfect Day’.
Loch Katrine is also a star of the big screen, as a filming location in the upcoming ‘What We Did on Our Holiday’ which stars David Tennant, Rosamund Pike, and Billy Connolly. The film is being used by VisitScotland to promote Scotland as a family holiday destination.
Mike Cantlay, chairman of VisitScotland, said: “The production crew of What We Did On Our Holiday have done an amazing job of capturing the unique peace, tranquillity and breathtaking landscapes of Scotland.
“Our partnership with Lionsgate UK gives us an excellent platform to make the most of this excellent opportunity.
“Scotland never fails to look stunning on the big screen, and I’m sure this feel-good film will encourage more cinema goers to come and explore this wonderful country for themselves.”
The film is released on 26th September in UK cinemas.
