Bumper Season at Loch Katrine

Loch Katrine has enjoyed a busy year in its history, celebrating the 125th anniversary of the iconic Steamship Sir Walter Scott. The milestone season included a vibrant and popular Steamboat Festival, a series of Steamship live events, the launch of a new book charting the vessel’s remarkable history, and the release of a limited-edition whisky that sold out in record time and raised valuable funds to support the future preservation of the historic Steamship.

The much-loved steamship also proudly flew the National Historic Ships pendant after being named Flagship of the Year, a fitting tribute to her enduring legacy as one of Scotland’s most historic vessels.

As the attraction has this week moved to its winter sailing schedule, Steamship Sir Walter Scott will take a short break from daily service but return for a series of special festive sailings, including The Spirit of Christmas cruises on Wednesday 12th November and Wednesday 10th December, with carols, mince pies and mulled wine.  A tradition for many is to enjoy a New Year Steamship sailing on 1st and 2nd January, featuring live music from the Ian Muir Band.

Family favourite Sail with Santa cruises also return aboard The Lady of the Lake across the first three weekends in December, while Winter Wonderland daily sailings depart Trossachs Pier at 10.00 am, 11.00 am, 12.00 pm, 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm on the Lady of the Lake.

James Fraser, CEO and Lead Trustee of the Steamship Trust, said: “We’re delighted to have shared such a memorable year with thousands of UK and overseas visitors as well as many residents from nearby local communities. The support and enthusiasm shown by everyone who joined us for cruises or participated in our special Steamboat Festival and Steamship Live events during this 125th anniversary year has been truly heartening. Particularly memorable was celebrating the 125th anniversary with 125 excited children from Aberfoyle, Port of Menteith and Callander Primary Schools who helped us recreate the first sailing on 6th June 1900 and starred in a special news feature on national television.”
