Loch Katrine Terms

The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd manages all passenger cruises, accommodation and hospitality activity at Loch Katrine.

Reservations

Reservations will only be confirmed when we've received the full payment. The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd. reserves the right to cancel tours where minimum numbers of passengers are not reached. A good alternative or a full refund will be offered in this case. The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd. reserves the right to refuse any booking request. Confirmed bookings are non-transferable and non-refundable. E-tickets must be exchanged at the booking office before joining the boarding queue.

Departures

Passengers should be at the waterfront at least 15 minutes before departure. Departure times may vary due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

Duration/Late Coming

The vessel is booked for the agreed duration at the agreed price.

The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd. accept no liability for individual late coming or late coming due to 3rd party suppliers or coach companies. If late guests delay the cruise's departure, the vessel will return to the quayside at the scheduled time, regardless of the duration.

Alterations

The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd. reserves the right to change the tour itinerary anytime. This includes, but is not limited to, adverse weather conditions, low demand, group bookings, setting down and picking up passengers at other points on Loch Katrine and the route taken. The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd. reserves the right to change the vessel/vehicle without prior notice. We recommend contact with the booking office before departure.

Weather conditions

All tours and cruises are subject to weather conditions during sailing. The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd. can accept. no responsibility if a cruise is cancelled because of flooding or adverse weather. If possible, we will give you a 24-hour notice if any condition is known to be likely to prevent the vessel from sailing. Customers must give a contact telephone number when booking in case of this event. If an alternative date cannot be agreed, a full refund will be given. In the event of bad weather, please telephone for updated information on details and revisions of published sailing times.

Force Majeure

No liability can be accepted by The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd. where the contract is affected by" Force Majeure". Force Majeure is any event we could not foresee or avoid, even with due care. These events include but are not limited to war, riots, civil or industrial disputes/strikes, natural disasters, fires, floods, earthquakes, acts of God, terrorism, nuclear disasters, adverse weather, government action, technical problems with transportation or other events outside our control.

Group bookings

Full payment is required in advance for all group bookings unless a credit agreement/account is held with The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd.

Refunds

Online reservations are non-refundable. In the event of cancellation by The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd., a refund or alternative sailing will be offered.

Cancellations

Any alterations/cancellations must be received in writing by The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd., and Online reservations are non-refundable. Cancellations made within 14 days, which include pre-booked catering or beverages, will be liable for any costs reasonably incurred by The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd. in facilitating this request. No refunds will be given for no-shows/late coming.

Lead passenger

The Lead passenger is responsible for all members of the party and should ensure that all members of the group are aware of the terms and conditions of carriage.

Prices

The price includes the Tour only. Any additional drinks or snacks are payable by the individual.

Infants and children

Reduced child prices are available for children. Infant and child lifejackets are also available on both vessels. When sailings are busy, prams and buggies should be left on shore or folded before boarding and held in a secure place by the crew; on quieter sailings, these may be taken on board. An adult must accompany all children under 16 years old.

Behaviour

The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd. reserves the right to refuse to carry any passenger whose conduct/manner is likely to cause offence or upset to other passengers. This also applies to anyone who exhibits behaviour that potentially threatens the health and safety of themselves or other passengers, including staff and crew. In the event of a refusal to carry, total cancellation charges apply (no refunds given), and The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd. accepts no company liability.

The Captains of all The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd. vessels have the authority to terminate any cruise before the scheduled time if passengers' or the general public's behaviour poses any risk to the safety of other passengers, the safety of the vessel, any equipment onboard the vessel and crew, or the safety of other loch users.

Alcohol/Drugs

Passengers are not entitled to bring any alcohol, drugs or illegal substances onto any of The Steamship Sir Walter Scott ltd. vessels. In the event of any alcohol, drugs or illegal substances being brought onto the vessel or vehicle by passengers or any member of its party, its invitees, its employees, agents or contractors, the skipper or any crew member or the driver has the right to confiscate the alcohol, drugs or illegal substances, in which case the alcohol, drugs or illegal substances shall not be returned and forwarded to the appropriate authorities. If it is found that Client's own alcohol, drugs or illegal substances or alcohol, drugs or illegal substances belonging to any other such persons are being or have been consumed on board a Supplier's vessel or vehicle, the skipper has the right to cut the sailing short and return to the pier.

Security

The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd reserves the right to carry out security checks on passengers, members of their party and their respective baggage or other belongings. This may take the form of asking to view the contents of bags and pockets to ensure dangerous goods and materials are not present.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted anywhere onboard, including on open-air decks.

Impaired Mobility

The crew will be on hand to assist those with impaired mobility. Wheelchair users should contact our offices beforehand to ensure the availability and suitability of wheelchair access for their chosen cruise.

Vessel Safety

All of our boats are fitted with the latest safety equipment, and all crew members are fully trained and qualified to meet the requirements of Marine Safety regulations.

Lost property

Loch Katrine accepts no responsibility for items left on any vessel or any loss of personal belongings. Any personal items handed in by customers or crew will be retained in our offices for six months before disposal.

Complaints

If any complaint or problem arises during the cruise, guests should approach a crew member with the problem. Where possible, this will be dealt with on board to your satisfaction. If guests are still not 100% happy, then complaints may be submitted in writing to Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd.

Cycle Hire Information

Bikes are carried on the upper decks of the vessels at the owner's own risk; The Steamship Sir Walter Scott accepts no liability for any damage that may be incurred during transit. In the event of an emergency or risk to life and at the Captain's discretion, deck space may need to be cleared at short notice. In this circumstance only, cycles may be damaged or lost. Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd. will endeavour to replace or repair these in this event only. We recommend that bikes carried are insured.

Safety helmets are recommended for all riders and must be worn by children under 16. To avoid disappointment – booking is recommended, and you should make your reservations at least 24 hours in advance. Cycle space on board the pleasure cruisers is limited – and must be booked in advance.

Amendments to terms and conditions

Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd. reserves the right to amend or update the terms and conditions of hire as and when necessary. The hirer should ensure that all party members fully agree with these terms.
