125 Years of Steamship Sir Walter Scott
This year, Loch Katrine is celebrating a proud milestone – the 125th anniversary of the Steamship Sir Walter Scott, since her maiden voyage in 1900. On this page, we will share some pictures of this fantastic year, which has seen the Steamer awarded Flagship of the Year 2025 by National Historic Ships.
Steamboat Festival – 6 to 8 June 2025
The centrepiece of the 125th anniversary year was the Loch Katrine Steamboat Festival, held from Friday, June 6th, to Sunday, June 8th, 2025, at Trossachs Pier. The weekend got off to an exciting start on Friday with 125 pupils from local primary schools joining a special cruise on the exact anniversary of the Steamers’ maiden voyage.
The family-friendly festival drew large crowds. Families enjoyed pirate treasure cruises aboard the Rob Roy Smuggler, with children participating in treasure hunts, games, and onboard adventures with a costumed crew. Face painting, traditional games, mini-steamships and live music enhanced the festive atmosphere throughout the weekend.
There were also food and drink tastings, a wide selection of market stalls celebrating Scottish produce, and impressive model ship displays.
The 125th anniversary year continues with special sailings throughout the season, offering more opportunities to experience the beauty of Loch Katrine aboard this historic vessel.
